YEREVAN. – Drams totaling about $5 million will be allocated this year for the fight against AIDS and tuberculosis in Armenia.

The respective decisions were adopted at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting. 

Accordingly, 614.6 million drams (approx. $1,494,358) will be allotted for the AIDS prevention campaign, and 1.5 billion drams (approx. $3,647,148) will be assigned for the tuberculosis control and the drug-resistant-tuberculosis control programs.

There are about 1,500 AIDS patients in Armenia, and almost as many people get infected with tuberculosis every year in the country.
