YEREVAN. – A march to khachakr dedicated to memory of Sumgait victims was held in Yervan on Friday.

Among the participants were former residents of Azerbaijani city of Sumgait who survived the violent pogroms. They passed through indescribable sufferings, losing their relatives and friends, some of them became disabled.

The march was joined by former Ombudsman Larisa Alaverdyan, vice chairman of Heritage party Armen Martirosyan, head of “Barev, Yerevan” faction in Yerevan municipality Anahit Bakhshyan.

They laid flowers at the khachkar situated in the territory of Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex and honored memory of the victims with a moment of silence.

Thursday, February 26, 2014 marked the 26th anniversary of the Armenian pogroms in the Azerbaijani city of Sumgait. The Armenian population in the area was massacred for three consecutive days.
