EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton said she conveyed an extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council because of deep concern over situation in Ukraine.

Talking to reporters prior to the meeting, EU security chief noted importance of de-escalation of the crisis. Ashton said political measures and support for the people of Ukraine are key issues.

The  Foreign Affairs Council is meeting on Monday to discuss situation over Ukraine.
