Yerevan-Aparan motorway is closed, Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the Facebook account of the opposition Pre-Parliament initiative.

The residents of Ushi, Ohanavan, Artashavan, Karbi, Saghmosavan, Yerznka, and Yeghvard villages have blocked the highway, and they demand that the construction of a hydroelectric power plant (HPP) nearby Aparan Reservoir be stopped.  

Governor Sargis Sahakyan of Aragatsotn Region came to speak with the protesting villagers. He tried to convince the villagers that the construction of the HPP is halted. The villagers, however, stated that new pipes have been brought for the construction.   

The regional governor has left the scene, Pre-Parliament informs.
