Armenia may become a member of Customs Union this year, Russian official said on Thursday.

Viktor Khristenko, chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Board, said Armenia has done a big step on implementation of a roadmap since summit in December, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported.

“I am optimistic about Armenia's capability of realizing 260 provisions of the roadmap and the work that has to be done before joining,” he said.

Armenia announced its intention to join Customs Union last September after the talks between presidents of Armenia and Russia in Moscow. The roadmap on Armenia’s accession to Customs Union was signed on December 24.
