YEREVAN. – The police say that the “I am against” initiative members were detained for closing the road and obstructing the people’s right to movement. But the police violate that right every day when they, “close the roads for the motorcade of a third-rank official.”

Davit Manukyan, a member of the “I am against” civic initiative which opposes the new pension law in Armenia, stated the above-said, at the end of Friday’s demonstration.

“This was a spontaneous civil disobedience. The three detained people had not committed an unlawful act; they are heroes,” Manukyan stated.

Friday’s protest started nearby the Finance Ministry building, yet it ended in front of capital city Yerevan’s Kentron Police Department. Three people were detained across the ministry building, but they were subsequently released after being issued administrative fines.
