President Xi Jinping of China called for emergency measures in connection with the airplane that went missing Saturday while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

“The Chinese Foreign Ministry as well as the embassy and the consulate of China should strengthen the efforts, the collaboration with the departments of other countries, and closely follow the search efforts for the plane,” Xi Jinping stated.

According to the Malaysia Airlines data, the disappeared plane, which belongs to Malaysia Airlines, is carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew members, and 160 of its passengers are Chinese citizens.
