YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Etchmiadzin city resident Karen K., 40, is accused of intentionally breaking two photo speed detectors, Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the judicial information system.     

The incident had occurred in the early morning on March 1, 2013.

Being under the influence of alcohol, Karen was driving and he had exceeded the speed limit on Etchmiadzin-Yerevan Highway. A photo speed detector had recorded the infraction the law.

Getting angry at what happened, Karen had stopped the car, stood on its trunk, and hit the speed detector with a car jack, but he could not break it.   

Subsequently, Karen had brought a pickaxe from home, hit with it two photo speed detectors located 100 meters from one another, and caused 375,000 drams (approx. $900) worth of material damage to the Police.      

Karen K. is charged, and a signature bond on not leaving Armenia is set as his restraining order.  

The case is pending in court, and the first court hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
