YEREVAN. – A criminal case is initiated in connection with the incident that occurred at a Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) military unit. 

Armenia MOD Investigation Service Senior Officer Meri Sargsyan told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
She informed that the criminal case is launched on charges of violation of the military turn of duty, or the combat service rules, if it has caused grave consequences.  

These charges are punishable with imprisonment for three to eight years.

An investigation is underway on the incident, but there are no arrests so far.

As reported earlier, a soldier died and an officer was injured Thursday at an NKR military unit, the Armenian News-NEWS.am sources have informed. We have learned that the incident occurred at the military positions in Martakert Region. The soldier died while performing a combat duty, and the officer was taken to the military hospital in NKR capital city Stepanakert. The soldier who died was Armen Ghukasyan, 20, and the injured officer is Varazdat Zakaryan, 26.
