YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Armenia conducted a search and rescue exercise between Wednesday and Thursday.

The exercise was conducted within the framework of the qualification process for the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) of the United Nations (UN).    

The exercise is an important step on the road to passing the INSARAG qualification, the MES press service informed. 

An Armenian urban search and rescue team, comprising 49 persons, took part in the drills.

Two experts from the State Fire Service of Poland followed the 36-hour exercise.

On Thursday, Armenia Emergency Situations Minister Armen Yeritsyan went to all drill sites to follow the exercise.

The drill results were summarized at the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
