Russia's upper house of parliament adopted statement in connection with sanctions imposed by the U.S. and EU on Russia.

The document stressed that sanctions are “an unprecedented act of political blackmail”, ITAR-TASS reported. 

“The sanctions announced by the United States and European Union against several Russian officials are an unprecedented act of political blackmail, an attempt to punish Russia for independent foreign policy line,” the document reads.
