Тhere has been a determination that there would be no military response by NATO to the Ukrainian crisis as it would not be beneficial and appropriate, NATO Liaison Officer for the Caucasus William Lahue told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He said that every decision that NATO makes regarding some type of operation or response has to be made collectively by the 28 members.

“They can plan for various contingencies to be able to respond. But NATO does not undertake any type of operation without the total consensus of all the member-states,” he emphasized.

The Alliance, as William Lahue noticed, supports the peaceful resolution of the situation in Ukraine and the efforts of international organizations that have the responsibility to engage in negotiations and resolutions such as the United Nations, the OSCE, and the agencies under the European Union.

“The resolution of this crisis is not a mission of NATO. NATO is an organization dedicated to the defense of its members. We of course support our partners to spread peace and stability throughout the region,” he said.
