Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia of the Armenian Apostolic Church is closely following the situation ever since the attack, which had begun in the morning of Friday, March 21 from the Turkish border, on Syria’s predominantly Armenian-populated town of Kessab.

“On Saturday evening, the Syrian ambassador to Lebanon visited His Holiness, and informed that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had commissioned him to assure to His Holiness that the Syrian government and the army will do their best to reestablish peace in the region.

“The ambassador noted that the Syrian army was able to push back, to a great extent, the infiltration of the militants.

“He added that the army temporarily relocated the [Kessab] Armenians to Latakia [city], for security considerations,” the ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party press service statement specifically reads.
