YEREVAN. – Armenia not only participated in the Earth Hour climate change awareness campaign this year, but it can be said that it manifested exclusive principles, Chorrord Ishkhanutyun newspaper reported.

“Because on that day there was no electricity—moreover, for hours—in almost half of the settlements in Armenia. And the dark forces claim in vain that the cause was the heavy snowfall. It’s just that Armenia is first in the world in the fight against global warming.

“What is more, if [President] Serzh Sargsyan’s ‘predictions’ on the [natural] gas price come true, Armenia will soon participate also in the Earth Hour campaign in terms of gas usage; moreover, it will call it ‘Earth Year.’

“So, the Armenians are environmentally the most knowledgeable in the world,” Chorrord Ishkhanutyun wrote in sarcasm.
