Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) does not plan on deploying Iskander-M missile systems in Kazakhstan, or in other Central Asian countries.

CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha told the abovementioned to ITAR-TASS news agency of Russia.
“By and large, Iskander is not the weapon which is necessary to confront the challenges that we expect from Afghanistan,” Bordyuzha added.

He also said that the aforesaid challenge refers to the four main threats.

“First, it is an unstable zone. Second, there are a large number of armed detachments of various extremist groups in that region. Third, [there are] militant training camps [there]. [And] fourth, [is the narcotic] drug flow,” Nikolay Bordyuzha stated.
