YEREVAN. – Because of frost, many farmers have suffered serious damage, and the Armenian government is working to help them, President Serzh Sargsyan said during a meeting in the Central Bank of Armenia on Friday.

“I think thanks to the work of the government and the Central Bank, we can substantially mitigate the damage. We have the experience over the years, and after a heavy hailstorm in Armavir Region in the past year we  worked more actively. I think that now we need to work as actively as then and even more,” he said.

President Sargsyan is convinced that the government must pay special attention to the creation of more favorable conditions and must be soft in terms of deadlines and schedules for repayment of loans for the affected farmers.

“It is crucial for the future of people so as to make them feel safer,” he emphasized.

President noted that people have an impression that the purpose of the banks, including the Central Bank, is to provide expensive loans, and if the Central Bank promoted the activities of private banks, and the interest on loans are so high that it is about excessive profits.
