YEREVAN. – Hovik Abrahamyan’s experience and his role in the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) will enable him do his best as the head of the government, President Serzh Sargsyan said during RPA meeting on Sunday.

President Sargsyan informed about his meetings with the party members and representatives of other political forces.

“Mr. Abarahamyan and I talked much about today’s challenges and future programs. We had an open and sincere conversation, and I got clear assurances from Mr. Abrahamyan.

Mr. Abrahamyan promised to quickly dispel possible concern among colleagues by his active work, clear political messages, actions aimed at raising collective spirit, and most importantly by visible results of his work. I am sure that very quickly Armenia will realize we have  truly effective Prime Minister. I do not doubt it and will do everything to help Mr. Abrahamyan to achieve this goal as soon as possible,” Sargsyan said.

Among the future steps of the government, President pointed out the process of joining Customs Union, continuation of reforms, including introduction of mandatory cumulative pension plan and education reform, tax and customs reforms.

“PM will have a high degree of freedom on choosing the best staff, regardless of the views and, as much as possible, not based on ‘family and friends principle’,” he said.

President Sargsyan thanked former Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan for his work and achievements. He said Tigran Sargsyan is expected to get job of a diplomat.
