Turkish President Abdullah Gul made a sensational statement saying that he will not continue to engage in politics.

Gul responded to reporters’ questions, and informed that he is ending his political career, Milliyet daily of Turkey reported.

“I don’t have any future political plans under the current conditions. [But] since I still hold the office of the President, I can’t say a lot of things openly.

“I announced something which I spoke and discussed with friends. [But] Turkey is a mature country; Turkey’s future will always be bright,” Gul said. 

This aforementioned statement caused a great buzz in Turkey.

Abdullah Gul’s tenure as the President of Turkey comes to an end this August.
