YEREVAN. – The apricot price may rise to 2,000 (nearly $5) drams per kilo this summer, following frost in March, Agrarian-Peasant Union of Armenia Chairman Hrach Berberyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He recalled that 90 percent of the apricot trees in Ararat valley were damaged on March 30-31, but the trees of Aragatsotn and Kotayk regions are blossoming now.

“We will taste apricots in mid July this year. And the price will be 500-2,000 drams per kilo, while the export volume will fall two times,” he said.

The only threat to apricot trees is unexpected hail, the expert added.
