YEREVAN. – Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Thursday received a US congressional delegation, led by Chairman Ed Royce of the House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs.  

Nalbandian welcomed the delegation’s visit to Armenia and underscored its efforts to develop the Armenia-US partnership, the Armenian MFA press service informed. He highly appreciated the delegation members’ steps taken toward the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, and said it is symbolic that they are visiting Armenia on the 99th anniversary of the first genocide of the 20th century.       

In their turn, the US Congress members stressed that their visit to Armenia is a good opportunity to get first-hand information on regional matters, and assured that they will continue their contribution to the development of Armenia-US relations.

The interlocutors highlighted that the Armenian-American relations are at a high level, and that the trust which exists between the two countries is a good guarantee for expanding collaboration.   

In addition, Minister Nalbandian briefed the guests on Armenia’s foreign policy priorities, the country’s outlook on the resolution of regional and international matters, and the efforts by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs toward a pacific settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
