State Department welcomed Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan’s statement on the 1915 events.

"I do. We welcome Prime Minister Erdogan’s historic public acknowledgment of the suffering that Armenians experienced in 1915. We believe this is a positive indication that there can be a full, frank, and just acknowledgment of the facts, which we hope will advance the cause of reconciliation between Turks and Armenians, Jen Psaki said during a briefing on Wednesday.

Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan  made first in the history message addressing Armenians on the “events of 1915”.

“The 24th of April carries a particular significance for our Armenian citizens and for all Armenians around the world, and provides a valuable opportunity to share opinions freely on a historical matter,” says the statement where he spoke about “shared pain” of the First World War.
