YEREVAN. – French Ambassador said the approaching 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide will be a good chance for the states that have not recognized it to do so.

French Ambassador to Armenia Henri Reynaud visited the Memorial to Armenian Genocide victims to pay tribute to the victims of the first genocide of the twentieth century.

Reynaud said the Genocide Remembrance Day is a very important event as it refers to certain extent to his county.

“This is the key issue for over 500,000-strong Armenian community of France. The fact of Genocide is a part of our history not only because many refugees were sheltered in France, but because these people became French. This is the reason why France recognized the Armenian Genocide,” he said.
