YEREVAN.  – Armenian Energy Minister Yervand Zakharyan underscored importance of Armenia-Iran energy ties during his meeting with Iran's Ambassador Mohammad Reisi.

Minister Zakharyan pointed at importance of Armenian-Iranian energy ties for development and progress of Armenia's energy sector.

Ambassador Reisi, for his part, congratulated Zakharyan on his appointment, noting that relationship with Armenia is one of Iran's foreign policy priorities. He emphasized Iran's readiness to expand cooperation in various areas, in particular energy sector.

The sides discussed issues related to Armenia-Iran energy cooperation, joint programs, and touched upon construction of the third high voltage transmission line between Armenia and Iran as well as issues related to construction of Meghri hydroelectric power station.

They agreed to hold in-depth discussion of Armenia-Iran energy programs during the regular meeting of Armenia-Iran intergovernmental commission in Tehran.
