Prince Felipe has become the new King of Spain.

Now as Felipe VI, he took on oath to the Constitution to nobly fulfill his commitments, follow the laws, and respect the rights of his subjects and autonomies, Lenta.ru reported citing Agence France-Presse.

But the new king’s father, 76-year-olf former King Juan Carlos, who reigned on the throne of Spain for 39 years, did not attend the ceremony.

On June 2, Juan Carlos had announced that he will be relinquishing the Spanish throne to his son.
