YEREVAN. –  Israel’s Ambassador to Armenia Shmuel Meirom described relations with Armenia as very good, but noted there is still space for further expansion.

Armenia and Israel continue cooperation in agriculture, education, culture and other sectors, Ambassador told reporters during the event dedicated to the 66th anniversary of Israel’s independence.

Asked whether is it possible that Israel may recognize the Armenian Genocide ahead of the 100th anniversary, the diplomat noted that the parliament is to make decisions.

“The issue is raised at the Knesset every year. The Israeli people are very sensitive towards the Armenian Genocide issue. Unfortunately, the issue has turned into a political problem. What we expect is that Armenia and Turkey will start discussions, and then it will be easier for all nations to take a position,” he emphasized.
