YEREVAN. – Armenia and Russia stand for peaceful settlement of the situation in the Middle East, Russian Foreign Minister said in Yerevan.

The situation in Syria and Iraq is important for Russian and Armenian compatriots, Lavrov said during his joint press conference with Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian.

The Russian Minister noted that the situation unfortunately is too far from the settlement, while terrorist threats are expanding.

“This proves that in such a situation as in Syria the change of regime must not be a priority. We have to think about the fate of people. If we confirm priorities of antiterrorist efforts to combat a common threat to all of us, I am convinced that the problems of political settlement will be easier to solve,” he emphasized.
