YEREVAN. – Armenian Minister of Justice Hovhannes Manukyan on Friday received “Armenian Helsinki Committee” human rights NGO Chairman Avetik Ishkhanyan, and “Armenian Innocence Project” NGO Director, journalist Zaruhi Mezhlumyan.

They conferred on the rights of those convicts in Armenia who are sentenced to life in prison, the Ministry of Justice press service informed.

In addition, the NGOs’ officials presented to the minister the results of their studies of, and their recommendations for, the conditions of those who are serving life sentences in Armenia.  

The interlocutors also discussed legislative reforms, the living conditions of Armenia’s prisoners, and the reviewing of the sentences.
