YEREVAN. – Deployment of peacekeepers in the Karabakh conflict area is possible only after final settlement of the conflict, head of Orinats Yerkir party Arthur Baghdasaryan said.

Baghdasaryan, former head of national security council, believes it is impossible now, since there is no final settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

“We can see growing tension, non-constructive policy of Azerbaijan and new arms race. A part of weapons Baku is buying from the Customs Union member states, another part from the Turkic states and the third from Israel. I am convinced we should draw conclusions: our armed forces should be re-equipped periodically,” he said during a press conference on Wednesday.

Asked about the statement of James Warlick regarding necessity to return seven liberated territories around Karabakh, Baghdasaryan said this is a matter of concern.

“However, it is good that the statements are made openly. It is not something new, it is position of their state, and we must form our position. Our public needs clear view on Karabakh issue and Armenia-Turkey relations,” he concluded.
