YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd daily has learned that the Armenia authorities plan to appoint Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) President Bako Sahakyan as head of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia, the daily reported.

“According to the same sources, there was even a review on joining the Armenia Police and the NSS, whereupon Sahakyan can be designated as the head of these two organizations.

“Zhoghovurd tried to clarify from NKR Presidential Spokesperson Davit Babayan whether they [this information] are accurate.

“[But] the latter told us that he is hearing such information for the first time. In his words, Bako Sahakyan performs the duties of the NKR President and there are about three years until the end of his tenure.

“Our interlocutor added that he does not believe that Sahakyan’s powers [as President] will be ended early,” Zhoghovurd wrote.
