YEREVAN. – Armenia’s opposition Heritage National Assembly Faction member, former FM Alexander Arzumanyan hopes that the country will never become a member in the Eurasian Economic Union (EaEU). Arzumanyan himself stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Thursday.

“I hope that the accession will be delayed forever. Union countries Kazakhstan and Belarus have no interest in connection with our [Armenia’s] accession, whereas [the other Union member] Russia has political interests. After losing Ukraine, they are doing everything so that at least Azerbaijan becomes a member in the Eurasian Economic Union,” he added.

In the opposition MP’s words, the recent tension on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border is likewise linked to the EaEU accession.

“Azerbaijan has started to attack from [the border areas] where it was not tense in recent years. Once Azerbaijan becomes convinced that it can resolve the matter on the battlefield, it will declare war on the same day. This means that we must always be prepared for war,” Alexander Arzumanyan noted.
