YEREVAN. – Relations between Armenia and NATO have been developing with understanding of Yerevan's foreign policy priorities, the Alliance representative said.

Despina Afentouli from NATO Public Diplomacy Division’s Engagements Section was one of the participants of “New security challenges and NATO” conference held in Yerevan on Thursday.

She emphasized that the Alliance has a good dialogue with Armenia and cooperation on security issues, adding that  Armenian Armed Forces are participating in NATO peacekeeping operations.

As to NATO enlargement and Russia's attitude, she noted that it is a stable component of the strategic vision of the Alliance. This component is contained in the basic documents of the Alliance as well as open door policy, which implies that all European countries may express a wish to join NATO. Then this country has to fulfill certain conditions for membership.
