YEREVAN. – If Armenia signs a document with the Eurasian Economic Union (EaEU), it does not mean that the doors for discourse and signing documents with the European Union (EU) will close.

German Ambassador to Armenia Reiner Morell told the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The diplomat explained that, at present, the EU Association Agreement assumes international agreements which Moldova, Georgia, and Ukraine have signed with EU.

“If in Armenia’s case this document does not include the entire contents of the noted agreement, the name and the term shall be different. But the important thing is the essence of the reached agreement,” Morell stressed.

The ambassador expressed a view that Armenia’s prospective EaEU accession will not prevent Armenia-EU relations.

“But some phenomena will become impossible, since they rule each other out. The European Union says: ‘We must know from the Armenian party as to what will be signed, what is possible, [and] what is not. You [Armenia] will have to explain this,’” Reiner Morell concluded.
