YEREVAN. – A live television link, titled “Eurasian Choice: Armenia 2014,” was held on Friday.

During the event, Armenia’s opposition Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party (RLP) MP Mher Shahgeldyan was asked a question on whether it is time to change the National Assembly Standing Committee on European Integration and into Standing Committee on Eurasian Economic Integration.

In response, Shahgeldyan specifically said as follows:“The Committee on European Integration does not work so strenuously today. But solely the Committee chair can answer this question.”

The RLP MP also noted that motions are tabled in the Armenian parliament and laws are changed to make them correspond with Armenia’s Eurasian Economic Union (EaEU) accession process.

Commenting on the delay in Armenia’s EaEU accession, Shahgeldyan stated that the delay until autumn creates uncertainty and causes discomfort in Armenia.

As per Mher Shahgeldyan, all Armenian political forces have a clear-cut position on EaEU accession and, in this context, on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh.
