YEREVAN. – Twenty-one people were arrested and numerous protestors sustained injuries in Brazil, and over the course of the 2014 FIFA World Cup which the country hosted.

Brazil’s Ambassador to Armenia Edson Marinho Duarte Monteiro noted the aforesaid at a press conference on Tuesday, but he added that he considers such incidents to be normal.

“It’s everyone’s right to protest, but it can’t be uncontrollable, and [therefore] the Brazil security service has done just that [that is, the arrests]; of course, within the framework of the law.

“Those who were detained were later released. Solely those who destroyed were not released; there are 21 such arrestees. They are those who have set cars, ATMs [automated teller machines] on fire; that is, they have committed a crime and charges will be brought against them,” the Brazil ambassador specifically stated.

Numerous Brazilians were against the football 2014 World Cup being held in their country arguing that a poor country such as theirs should not spend such millions of dollars to host this event.
