YEREVAN. – Iran stands against deployment of peacekeepers in the region, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mohammad Reisi said.

Commenting on the possible deployment of peacekeepers in the Karabakh conflict zone, Reisi said that official Tehran opposes the initiative. He is convinced the solution of conflict depends on Armenia, Azerbaijan and OSCE Minsk Group.

“However, I am sure that deployment of external forces will threaten regional stability, and the example is Iraq and Afghanistan,”he said during a press conference on Friday.

At the same time, Ambassador Reisi said his country is against any violence in the region and stands for peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict and considers unlikely resumption of hostilities.
