Turkish police fired tear gas and used water cannons to disperse anti-Israel rally on Thursday evening when Israel announced ground offensive in Gaza.

Numerous demonstrators gathered near Israel's general consulate in Istanbul. They waved Palestinian flags and chanted “Murderer Israel, get out of Palestine” and “Strike, strike Hamas; strike against Israel” mottoes, Hurriyet Daily News reported.

Police did not intervene till the moment when demonstrators broke the door of a consulate and tried to enter the building.

A crowd gathered in Ankara near the residence of Israel's Ambassador. The building was stoned, and a Palestinian flag appeared on the house’s wall.
