Azerbaijani authorities are trying to blackmail Baku office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

Chairman of Azerbaijani state committee on refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov said serious measures will be taken against ICRC, unless a meeting “with detained hostages” is organized shortly.

He said the ICRC Baku office got a warning, as a failure to organize a meeting with “the detainees in Kelbajar” casts doubt on ICRC actions.

“Who of those captivated by Azerbaijan has been tortured? When an Armenian is held in Azerbaijani captivity, ICRC addresses Azerbaijani government immediately and the meeting is organized shortly,” Hasanov said, threatening to exile members of ICRC.

The “hostages” in fact are members of diversionary team that infiltrated into Karvachar region of Nagorno-Karabakh. Three citizens of Azerbaijan were neutralized in Nagorno-Karabakh. Two of them were detained, and one was killed. The saboteurs were carrying weapons and ammunition.
