YEREVAN. – An environmentalist called dangerous plans to reduce water level of Lake Sevan.

Bardukh Gabrielyan ,National Academy of Sciences of Armenia Biology and Water Preservation Research Center director, said that organic and inorganic substances in the coastal zone, including harmful, will be washed into the lake.

In addition, the lower the water level in the lake is, the more it warms up, including the bottom layers, where fish lives.

According to the State Committee of Water Resources, in early 2014 the level of Lake Sevan was 1,900 m 16 cm, now is 1,900 m 48 cm.
