YEREVAN. – The health condition of Armenia’s Armavir city Mayor Ruben Khlghhatyan and his two friends—who had suffered injuries as a result of a landmine explosion in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR)—is relatively stable.
Armen Muradyan, the Head of the Intensive Care Unit at Erebuni Medical Center in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
“They are conscious. We will transfer the mayor to the hospital room today [Wednesday], whereas the other two will stay in the intensive care unit,” he added.
The mayor has a brain injury, hemorrhage, and an injury to his fifth finger; he underwent surgery on Tuesday evening.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia has informed that the aforesaid incident occurred Tuesday at around 6:30am, in Vaghazin village of the Kashatagh Region of NKR, as a Toyota Prado exploded on a landmine. As a result, the driver died on the spot, whereas passengers Ruben Khlghhatyan, Artur Baghdasaryan, and Garnik Avetisyan were taken to a local medical center. Subsequently, however, they were transported on a helicopter to Erebuni Medical Center.
