Most of Georgia was left without electricity for several hours on Sunday evening.

The widespread power outage was due to a malfunctioning electricity grid, reported the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Georgia.

As a result, the capital city Tbilisi’s subway system stopped working and the city’s TV tower shut down for some time.

Over the course of those approximately two hours, there were also interruptions in the services of the mobile telephone operators.

At this point, electricity has been restored in Tbilisi and in some other parts of Georgia.

Work is underway to restore electricity in the rest of the country.
