Around sixty youth from Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), or Artsakh, participated in an ecological tent camp in NKR’s Askeran Region, from July 21 to 26.

The objective of this tent camp was to study the opportunities for the development of ecotourism and the creation of ecovillages in the community.

“Young Biologists Association” NGO Director Arsen Gasparyan told the above-said to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Owing to this program, which is carried out for the second year, a large number of local youth also have become involved in it.

“We have tried to hold trainings on environment protection, healthy food, and a healthy lifestyle. An attempt is also made to develop an ecovillage model. If it becomes successful in one village, we will continue in other villages, too.”

Artsakh Youth Development Center Director Susanna Petrosyan added the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Ecovillages aim to effectively use the local natural resources and, owing to this, ensure the community’s active development and wellbeing, and promote the development ecotourism.
