YEREVAN. – The UN General Assembly for the first time decided to mark the World Day against trafficking in persons, representative of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Vahram Kazhoyan told reporters.

Kazhoyan, head of a working group on fight against trafficking, said Armenia has joined the movement.

“The symbol of the day is a blue heart, as blue is a traditional color of the United Nations, and heart is a symbol of hope. The most important thing in fight against trafficking is fate of people and possibility of saving lives,” he said.

As reported earlier, Armenia maintained the highest status of Tier 1, according to the 2014 Trafficking in Persons report released by Secretary of State John Kerry in June.
