YEREVAN. – Education will improve Armenia's positions in the UNDP Human Development Index (HDI), PM Hovik Abrahamyan said during government's session on Thursday.

He recalled that Armenia preserved 87th place in the newly updated index. PM is convinced that progress should be expected first of all thanks to education system.

“Duration of senior secondary education in Armenia is 12.3 years, but, in fact, the children and young people in the country are studying for 10.8 years. Raising the education level will improve Armenia's position in the ranking,” Abrahamyan added.

Amendments to the legislation providing for 12-year secondary education were made earlier this year.
