YEREVAN. – Such racist statements do not bring honour to anybody, particularly to a head of a state, spokesperson for Armenian FM said in response to Erdogan's anti-Armenian remark.

“It is appalling that the author of that statement is doing it during a pre-election period, thus expecting that it might get extra votes,” Tigran Balayan said in response to Arminfo inquiry.

“Exactly such statements are breeding fertile ground for crimes motivated by ethnicity, as was the murder of Hrant Dink. Such expressions of racism lay in the roots of genocide implementation and the latter’s denialism”.

As reported earlier, Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan made an insulting remark during a television interview.

“I am from Rise. They called me a Georgian. Pardon me for saying this, but they said even uglier things. They called me an Armenian,” Erdogan said.
