YEREVAN. – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is holding dialogue with the relevant Azerbaijani agencies on handing over the body of captive Karen Petrosyan to Armenia, ICRC representative said.

Zara Amatuni told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the organization is not commenting on the situation, and no tangible progress has been registered in the case.

The resident of Chinari village Karen Petrosyan was taken captive on August 7, on the next day Azerbaijani side reported about his sudden death from “a heart failure”. Azerbaijani side presented the man as “a dangerous saboteur”.

Meanwhile, the Azerbaijanis, who found Karen Petrosyan, do not trust the official version of the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan that Karen was a saboteur, RFE/RL Azerbaijani service reported.

Fariza Tagiyeva, a woman who discovered the lost Armenian villager, said the locals asked him why he was afraid, and he replied that he had no weapons with him.

Tagiyeva took Petrosyan to a tea-house of Agbulag village where youth surrounded Karen and began questioning. The local said he had nothing, except for a normal phone. Besides, Karen did not show any resistance, and the questions ended when the military came to the village. According Fariza Tagiyeva, military outposts of the Armenian armed forces are far away from the village, and he could come from the military outposts.
