YEREVAN. – Armenian tourists do not prefer Georgia over Armenia.

Mekhak Apresyan, who is Head of the Tourism and Economic Development Department at the Ministry of Economy of Armenia, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Wednesday.

He noted that a significant part of Armenia’s local tourists, who wish to travel to the sea, prefer to go to Georgia because spending vacation there is relatively cheap and the Black Sea resorts are more or less nearby.

“Nonetheless, they go to other [sea] coasts, too, including exotic, such as the Pacific islands,” Apresyan noted.

He added, however, that there is a wrong view that Armenian tourists want to go to Georgia, first and foremost, and they rest in Armenia solely when they are not able to travel abroad.

“The Armenia tourist routes continue to enjoy a deserved popularity,” Mekhak Apresyan said.
