YEREVAN. – There are already more than 300 hotel facilities in Armenia.

Mekhak Apresyan, who is Head of the Tourism and Economic Development Department at the Ministry of Economy of Armenia, noted the above-said at a press conference on Wednesday.

According to him, this number includes hotels, health resorts, holiday homes, motels, and hostels.

“As you can see, they are quite a lot, not [even] counting the inns, whose number is around 200. Furthermore, over 60 percent of the tourism infrastructure facilities are outside [capital city] Yerevan,” Apresyan said.

He added that the inns—especially in Armenia’s villages—are very popular among Western tourists.

“Many of them do not come to a luxury hotel, but rather for the local ‘color,’” the official stated.
