YEREVAN. – The Armenian government will encourage web hosting of Armenian websites and creation of domain names using an Armenian alphabet. The decision was made during government's meeting on Thursday.

Deputy Transport and Communication Minister Arthur Arakelyan said the main goal of the project is promotion of computer literacy, expansion of Ipv6, security and protection of personal data on the web and at the same time identification of web users. The government will also focus on protection of children using Internet.

The government will encourage creation of local traffic exchange centers, and will work to improve protection of intellectual property.
