YEREVAN. – The first steps are taken to breed African catfish in Armenia.

Artur Atoyan, who is head of the Armenian Fish Farmers Association, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, this year a fish farmer in Armenia made the first attempt to import this fish to the country.

“I don’t know whether or not it worked out, but I hope that everything will be fine,” Atoyan added.

The advantages of breeding African catfish are its rapid growth, not being too demanding in terms of food and clean water, and its good taste. This fish, however, is demanding solely with respect to water temperature, which should not be below 20 degrees Celsius.
