YEREVAN. – Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan on Wednesday met with Argentinean-Armenian duduk player Gagik Gasparyan.

They discussed matters concerning the preservation of the Armenian identity, spreading and protection of Armenian culture, and the organizing of events devoted to centennial of the Armenian Genocide, informed the Diaspora Ministry of Armenia press service.

Gagik Gasparyan was born in 1973 in Etchmiadzin, Armenia, and he moved to Argentina in 1997.

Gasparyan was the first Armenian person to have a memorial built abroad—and with own resources—devoted to the Nagorno-Karabakh War heroes, for which he was awarded with a medal by the National Assembly of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

The Armenian musician has received numerous awards and prizes from the Argentine state, too.

Gagik Gasparyan has played the Armenian duduk in Argentine films for the first time.

He has also released fifty CDs with musicians of different nationalities and four individual CDs, and they are sold in around 45 countries.
